Projects to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds

Articol de Petruţa Obrejan, 14 Septembrie 2022, 19:12

Several projects to support children and preschoolers from disadvantaged backgrounds, but also to stimulate school performance, were on the Government's agenda today.

Preschoolers and students from 350 educational units will receive support this year also, which will consist of a hot meal or a food package worth 15 lei, if the hot meal cannot be provided.

According to the draft emergency ordinance, the beneficiary school units of this pilot program were mainly selected from geographically, economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds. The initiators state that the project is a beneficial one, as it has considerably improved students' attendance at classes and strengthened the family-school relationship.

Also today, the Executive intervened, by decision, regarding the stimulation of high performance in pre-university education.

Thus, at the national stage of school competitions, the students who obtain the first prize will be awarded 1.000 lei; for the second prize - 700 lei, and the third prize - 500 lei.

For the international stage of school competitions held at European or regional level, the winner will receive 7.500 lei, and for the world level competitions, the prizes are between 6.000 and 20.000 lei.
