‘The skills that youngsters have acquired during college do not help them on labour market’, it is one of the conclusions of a sociological survey which sticks up for the utility of a site, launched on Tuesday, with the support of the Ministry of Education.
Minister Daniel Funeriu believes that the programme which offers on-line information about the course of study and the skills acquired during college and master will facilitate the integration of graduates into labour market.
The site can be accessed on www.mcis.ro and it has been created by the National Council for Qualifications and Professional Training of Adults.
On this occasion, there have been shown the results of the sociological survey entitled as follows: ‘newly college graduates and their integration into the labour market.’
According to it, graduates estimate that 55 per cent of the knowledge and the skills that they need at their job have been actually acquired at their own work.
According to the same survey, employees neither are interested in the specialization or the University that students have graduated nor in the abroad courses.
The survey reveals that students who have worked part time since college have more chances of integration into labour market, because employees appreciate their desire and motivation to work.
On the other hand, according to students’ estimation, the skills they acquired during college were not those that could help them to integrate easier into the labour market.
The survey outlines that after graduation, only those who have graduated the Faculty of Architecture or Planning can find a job easier and faster than the graduates who have a Natural Sciences specialization.
The aforementioned survey was conducted during 2001 on about 5,500 students that have graduated in the recent five years, both graduates of private and public universities.
