Problems caused by Autonomous Thermal Energy Distribution are known for a long time, stated the mayor of the capital, Sorin Oprescu.

The mayor said he has formally requested the government, since the end of last year, controls on this issue.

Oprescu added that the municipality intends to take control of the production of hot water and heat transport to reduce the price of Gcal.

"We cannot indefinitely subsidize a technically and economically underperforming, to which overlap, as you can see, also losses due to poor management and possible illegal acts. Therefore, I believe that the action started on RADET verification and investigation findings Corps Control the prime minister will help the new local administration to finally make order in this work of decisive importance for the population of Bucharest, for it is the hot water and heating, "said Sorin Oprescu.

Eight directors of RADET are suspected of fraud in public procurement.

They would have facilitated the fraudulent award of contracts for construction, maintenance and repair of network RADET Bucharest.

Friday morning, there were several searches in Bucharest, Ilfov and Giurgiu.

General Prosecution sources have said that so far, Bucharest policemen found at the houses in search conducted on the suspects in RADET case approximately 500 thousand Euros.

Money for work that was not performed

According to police sources, large firms fraudulently received contracts execution, maintenance and repair of RADET Bucharest network.

The firms paid bribes for lucrative contracts with the state, so that the price for heat continuously increased.

Moreover, although they were awarded these contracts and amounts paid from public funds, the companies did not carried out the works.

In some cases, RADET directors suspected of fraud would have received, in addition to bribes, also trips and expensive holidays abroad, paid by companies receiving preferential contracts.

Police officers are working on this case for over a year and aim to more corruption acts.
