Representatives of the four pro-European parties and the national minorities group discussed the future government program on Wednesday, after agreeing to form an executive and a parliamentary majority together.
In a first discussion, the political leaders agreed on the need for a series of reforms aimed at cutting public spending and red tape in the administration.
These are technical talks between PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR and representatives of the national minorities group, who want a reform-oriented government program.
The Social Democrats have already announced that they have clear conditions, including continued investment, an increase in purchasing power, including by capping energy, natural gas and basic food prices, support for the Romanian private sector and state reform.
Clear reform agenda and solidarity of pro-European parties
The Liberals want a government with a clear reform program, while the UDMR insists on the solidarity of pro-European parties.
USR has recently said it wants a government formula that will commit to cutting state spending, administrative reform and reform of some institutions, including intelligence services.
USR first vice-president Dominic Fritz said that whether or not his party will be part of the future executive depends on whether it takes these principles on board.
Only future government projects are being discussed on Wednesday, with no applied negotiations on the division of ministries.
