Presidential elections in Romania: Seven candidates validated so far
Final list will be announced on Friday, September 27.

Seven candidates have been validated so far by the Central Election Bureau (BEC, RO) to enter the race for the November 10 presidential elections in Romania.
They are:
- current Head of State - Klaus Iohannis, on behalf of the National Liberal Party (opposition),
- current Prime Minister - Viorica Dăncilă, leader of ruling Social Democratic Party,
- Theodor Paleologu - former Minister of Culture, on behalf of People's Movement Party (PMP),
- Kelemen Hunor - leader of the Hungarian Democrats (UDMR),
- Dan Barna - leader of the Save Romania Union (opposition),
- Mircea Diaconu - former actor, MEP in the past European legislation, supported by ALDE - Pro Romania Alliance,
- Viorel Cataramă – businessman, on behalf of Liberal Right's.
Constitutional judges rejected candidacy of Miron Cozma, invalidated due to irregularities regarding his lists of supporters.
Ramona Bruynseels (Humanist Power Party /PPU) and Alexandru Cumpănaşu were among the last registered candidates. A decision in their case is expected from the BEC tomorrow at the latest.
Possible appeals can be filed until Wednesday at the Constitutional Court. On Friday, September 27, after the settlement of potential appeals, final list of the candidates for the chair of President of Romania will be announced.
