President Traian Basescu visited the Vatican
The head of state gave to the Pope one Four Gospels who said that is an important book for orthodox religion.

Romanian President Traian Basescu met on last Friday at midday tete a tete talks with Pope Benedict XVI in one of the last meetings of the Heads of State Pope before the end of his pontificate later this month.
Traian Basescu Basescu is on an official visit to the Vatican after which he will meet with representatives of the Romanian community.
President Traian Basescu thanked the Pope for having accepted his visit and reminded that this is the second meeting after the one they had in September 2008 to the summer residence of the Pope.

In turn, Pope Benedict XVI gave President Traian Basescu an anniversary medal of his pontificate.
Romanian President talked with Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Vatican secretary of state, the Romanian official delegation, but also the Vatican authorities.
On Friday, the president and his wife will bring a bouquet of flowers at the tomb of Pope John Paul II and will pause there.
