President Klaus Iohannis starts an official visit to the United States today, where he will attend the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.

President Klaus Iohannis starts an official visit to the United States today, where he will attend the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.
The Agenda includes a reception hosted by US President Donald Trump, as well as a meeting with representatives of the Romanian community in the Philadelphia region.
The program of President Klaus Iohannis' visit will include his national discourse delivered at the general debates’ session of the UN General Assembly, and attending high-level meetings organized by Romania together with other states.
The Head of State will also participate to the reception offered by US President Donald Trump to the Heads of Delegations taking part at the highest level segment in the General Assembly.
He will also have a series of bilateral meetings with the UN Secretary-General, the President of the General Assembly, and counterparts from other countries.
In the plenary session of the General Assembly, the President of Romania will emphasize the need for an effective response to the main challenges to international and regional peace and security.
In the context of the recent launch of the campaign for Romania to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 mandate, the President of Romania will sustain in his meetings the importance of achieving this objective of the Romanian state and the main arguments that recommend our country in this competition.
The Head of the Romanian State will also meet with representatives of the main Jewish organizations in the United States, as well as representatives of the Romanian community in the Philadephia area.
