President Klaus Iohannis is attending a two-day NATO summit in Madrid to discuss Russia's aggression in Ukraine, its consequences and the continued provision of military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
The Romanian head of state will welcome the reflection in NATO's new strategic concept of the current security situation and will refer to the strategic importance of the Black Sea region for Euro-Atlantic security.
Klaus Iohannis will also reiterate support for Finland and Sweden's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance.
The Madrid meeting will adopt, among other things, the new strategic concept, a document that will set NATO's priorities for the coming years and decisions will be made on strengthening and streamlining the alliance's defense position and NATO partnerships.
