President Klaus Iohannis on the situation in Ukraine

Romania reaffirms its strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine but also for the right of this country to decide freely on its European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations - wrote President Klaus Iohannis, on Twitter.

Present at the informal European Council meeting on the latest developments on the security situation at Ukraine's borders, the head of state argued for the need to continue the dialogue and a diplomatic solution to this crisis.

President Iohannis believes that risks to European security are still critical, adding that there is still a need for effective coordination and unity in times of crisis, all of which will be able to increase security throughout the Euro-Atlantic area.
