EU Heads of State and Government are in Tallinn, Estonia, today, to discuss digital Europe and technological developments, during the 2017 Digital Summit organized by the Estonian EU Presidency, in cooperation with the President of the European Council and the European Commisison.
European heads of state would like to see that the old continent becomes the world's digital leader in the coming years.
The Tallinn Summit will focus on two major themes: a) the future of governance and security, describing the role of the EU in strengthening confidence in digital security and b) the future of the economy and society, referring to the future needs of the Union in terms of infrastructure, market and labor force.
The Head of the Romanian State will sustain the importance of the digital strategy for the EU internal market, the need to ensure adequate cyber security and the need to prepare citizens to acquire digital skills.
The Tallinn Digital Summit was prefaced by an unofficial dinner where French President Emmanuel Macron presented his EU Reforms Plan to the Heads of State and Government of the European Member States.
The French President suggests that in the coming weeks, a so-called Europe Reconstruction Group to be set up, to bring together all interested states and European institutions. After last night's dinner, Emmanuel Macron met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, whose support is very important for the application of his plan.
