Recent European Parliament Resolution on the judicial reform and European Commission latest progress report on Romania in the context of the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) are saying that Romania went back where it was 11 years ago, before joining the European Union and this is the result of the current Dragnea-Dăncilă Government, that I consider an accident of Romanian democracy, said Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.
"Both the European Parliament Resolution and the CVM Report mention the same things - Romanians, most Romanians, I and many others, want to be Europeans, build a solid, transparent democracy for the Romanians. Unfortunately, this democracy crash, Dragnea-Dăncilă Government has a completely different idea and it is trying to pull the country backwards", Iohannis said at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace, adding that recent changes to the laws of justice and criminal codes "have drawn attention in the most negative way".
“They have other concerns. And this is true. The only objective of this Dragnea-Dăncilă Government is to escape Dragnea from prison and files. For them, nothing else matters. It is clear that if Dragnea-Dăncilă have the sole objective of keeping Dragnea out of prison, they are not interested in either Europe, Romanians or Romania. And this is very sad”, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said.
