The year that has ended has been under the sign of the Centenary of the Great Union, President Klaus Iohannis said in the New Year message.
President also notes the importance of Romania's Presidency of the Council of the European Union:
Klaus Iohannis: We are opening a new page of our nation's history, and it is our responsibility to leave to future generations a powerful democracy and a developed country! Let's build together the next century of Romania's existence with more courage, civic involvement and firm attachment to the values of the rule of law! 2019 is the year when our country will hold the Presidency of the EU Council for the first time. Let us capitalize on this opportunity and prove that Romania is seriously involved in the consolidating the European project! Happy New Year!
