Romanian President Klaus Iohannis is attending today the European Social Summit in Sweden, with a message in support of Education as a way of facilitating access to the labor market and combating youth unemployment.
European Union leaders meet in Gothenburg to stimulate social measures in an attempt to respond to current populist and Eurosceptic tendencies in Member States' policies.
There is a need to reaffirm a series of rights to be respected throughout the Union, including Education and vocational guidance, equal treatment and opportunities, and an adequate minimum wage.
President Klaus Iohannis will take part in the session on labor market access and in his intervention he will emphasize the importance of Education in ensuring the fulfillment of labor market requirements.
He will also insist on the continuous adaptation of Educational policies to technological developments and the dynamics of the labor market. The Head of State will also talk about the need to reduce youth unemployment through relevant Education policies, but also by providing incentives to employers.
An informal meeting of European Council members will also be held, dedicated to the future actions of the Union in the fields of Education and Culture. During the debates, President Iohannis will express Romania’s support for those projects and initiatives meant to contribute to regaining citizens' confidence in European values.
Romanian President will also advocate intensifying cooperation in the Youth field, will sustain the importance of furthering the EU support programs in the Cultural field and improving access to finance for companies activating in this field.
