Possible Supreme Council of National Defense meeting on Romania's position in the current international context

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu believes that it is appropriate to convene a meeting of the Supreme Council of National Defense in order to position Romania in the current international context, but this must be done in agreement with the interim president, Ilie Bolojan, the Prime Minister said.
In his opinion, it could be the best solution to clarify the current situation regarding the annulment of the elections at the end of last year.
The Chief Executive also summoned Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu to the Victoria Palace on Tuesday to discuss a number of issues related to the negotiations that have taken place at external level.
The foreign minister was also invited to the Chamber of Deputies, in the Committee for European Affairs, for the same topic.
Romania was not invited to yesterday's meeting in Paris, where eight European countries were represented, for talks on Ukraine and increased spending on European defense.
This comes as US President Donald Trump seeks to negotiate a peace deal for Ukraine directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin and without the involvement of the US's European allies.
