The representatives of the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), who agreed to enter the government together, will meet again today in order to establish how the portfolios will be divided and how the prime ministers will rotate.
On Monday, the representatives of the parliamentary formations are summoned to the Cotroceni Palace, for consultations with President Klaus Iohannis, to appoint a new prime minister.
Reporter Oana Bala: PNL, PSD and UDMR will go together to the consultations at Cotroceni Palace, and by Monday they should reach an agreement on how to divide their portfolios in the new executive and to complete the governing program. The three political parties that have agreed to form a parliamentary majority and a new coalition government are the first to be invited to the consultations. These will be followed by USR, AUR and the group of national minorities, each with half an hour allotted for discussions with President Klaus Iohannis.
Two weeks ago, the head of state said he would call the parties to consultations for the formation of the new government when a parliamentary majority crystallizes. It is the third attempt to appoint a new prime minister after Parliament failed to give confidence to the government proposed by Dacian Ciolos, and Nicolae Ciuca, the second nominated for prime minister who failed to gather a majority to support him in Parliament and who has resigned. The next appointed prime minister will have 10 days to form a government and establish the governing program.
