RADIO ROMANIA NEWS - Specialists in the government are working on a pension reform, so that vulnerable citizens are supported, an analysis on this topic being prepared by the Ministries of Finance and Labour, where data on the risk of poverty are centralized.
The Minister of Finance, Adrian Caciu, says that the possibility of increasing the threshold up to which pensions can be tax-exempt is being discussed, and the final analysis will be presented to the ruling coalition in a few weeks.
Adrian Caciu: "The public pension system, at the moment, is not taxed up to the value of 2000 lei. Things will remain like this, we are analyzing to see if this non-taxable value can be increased, considering that this tax exemption intervened in 2017; in the meantime, things have evolved from the perspective of inflation, and in the analysis we are doing we consider all other pension systems, with the exception of the public pension system, with regard to possible taxation, but under the condition of not taxing the part of contribution."
