The new leadership of the National Bank has been approved by a majority vote by the joint plenary of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. Governor Mugur Isarescu, who has held the post since 1990 with a very brief interruption when he was prime minister, will continue to head the institution.
Leonardo Badea, first deputy governor, Florin Georgescu and Cosmin Marinescu, deputy governors, are also on the executive board of the central bank. The Parliament also validated the mandates of some members of the Board of Directors of the Financial Supervisory Authority and the National Audiovisual Council.
Also approved were President Klaus Iohannis' requests to deploy NATO security assistance missions to Ukraine and to train Ukrainian personnel in the maritime field.
