Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) accepted on Wednesday the request of the Romanian Liberal Party (PNL) in reference to notifying the Venice Commission regarding the new amendments to Romanian laws of justice, PNL announces.
Request was sustained in the PACE Monitoring Committee by Ionuț Stroe (PNL), who presented the situation the Romanian justice system is facing. He argued that changes to the legislation in the field were made unexpectedly, without public consultations, without respecting observations of the Superior Council of Magistracy and recommendations of the European Commission.
PNL leader, Ludovic Orban, has asked the Dăncilă Cabinet to stop any other action in the justice or criminal field until the experts of the Venice Commission will finalize analysis of the changes that were recently made in the Romanian judiciary.
