3.000 online applications were submitted on Monday, just after the opening of the registration period for the program to increase the birth rate by providing financial support for in vitro insemination procedures.
Interest is very high. The registration platform was under siege and even blocked for several hours, the president of the SOS Infertility Association, Nicoleta Cristea Brunel, told Radio Romania Targu Mures.
She says it is important for women not to put off for too long when they want to become mothers, including through in vitro fertilization.
"The patient has to go, not to waste time, because time is an extremely important aspect in the fight against infertility. Female age is the first success criterion. The younger a woman is, the greater her chances of overcoming infertility. Female fertility starts to decline at 27. So there is €30 million, 150 million lei for partial funding of 10.000 in vitro fertilization procedures, but it usually goes over €5.000, it can go up to seven for more complex cases", said Nicoleta Cristea Brunel.
Last year again, 10.000 couples and single women were supported in this way, and the first results of the national in vitro fertilization programme show 2.000 ongoing pregnancies and 300 babies already born.
