More than three million Ukrainian citizens have crossed the border to Romania since the start of the war in February last year. Also, over 100.000 have temporarily settled in the country, and 4.000 have applied for asylum, State Secretary Madalina Turza mentioned. She specified that, of these, 47.000 are children. At Government level, six working groups were set up by fields of activity, which, together with the UN partners and civil society, allowed a good management of the situation arising from the Russian aggression. At the same time, they facilitated the accommodation of Ukrainian refugees in a very short time, added Madalina Turza.
Madalina Turza: More than two and a half million refugees who entered our country benefited from direct support from the Government, local authorities, UN agencies and civil society. Direct support means that they either received products, were counselled, or benefited from health services, social services, transport, accommodation, any kind of direct interaction or support.
