National Hard Coal company Petrosani has decided to continue the process of restructuring, which requires new collective redundancies.
Novelty compared to the previous layoffs is the fact that, at the end of last year, was founded a company which will handle only closing the mines and the miners who remain on layoff farms viable.
"I think that in the months of January-February will take place the accumulated cuts 2012-2013, 515 people," said the Director of the National Hard Coal Company, Nicolae Drăgoi.
In addition to the layoffs continues the closure of Petrila, Uricani and Paroseni that will permanently cease operations over five years.
Trade unions can not protest too much over these measures contained in the Romania’s agreements with the IMF, but they are convinced that closing the mines will have social effects.
The President of the League of Jiu Valley Mining Unions, Zoltan Iocks, was an engineer at Uricani Mine and believes that the disappearance of the operation will affect the entire community.
"A disaster in the first and primarily the loss of all jobs in the underground and on the surface, about 100 employees.
"If we put at least 3 people next to them means at least 2,500 people who will lose income," said Zoltan Iacatos.
