Over 5.000 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded last week in Romania. Although the increase is slight compared with the previous period, there is still pressure on infectious diseases hospitals, because patients with seasonal illnesses are also presenting in the emergency room, the medical director of the "Matei Bals" Institute in the capital Adrian Marinescu told our radio station.
Adrian Marinescu: "There is indeed an increase. This coexistence with the virus is not always harmonious. There is an increase, there are several cases, most of them are mild cases, but of course those who have complications are being selected. In fact, the big problem is that in infectious disease hospitals these days there are also food-borne toxin infections, there are seasonal illnesses and you have SARS-CoV-2 infections on top of that and then the pressure is quite high, especially when you need places to hospitalize patients with complications. I mean it's not easy these days."
