Over 40% of Romanian students could not participate in online classes because they did not have the necessary devices or internet connection.
At the same time, almost 40 percent of parents say they have failed or have only partially succeeded, lately, in providing their children with food, hygiene products, supplies, or medication.
The data are included in a study conducted by the World Vision Romania foundation. The representative of the organization, Andreea Bujor, also draws attention to the phenomenon of loneliness of children during this period of isolation, them being more exposed to negative influence that can be taken from the online environment.
Andreea Bujor: Unfortunately, the results show that there was not a very good communication between children and parents. In a period when the family stayed at home, which should have been good for the child and for the establishment of relations between children and parents, it has been proven to be the detriment of the relationship between them. So, in addition to this feeling of loneliness felt by the child, they are much more vulnerable to the dangers and negative influences of the online environment, because of the extra time they spend on the Internet.
One in five children is not happy. 7% of children said they have a bad life.
