Over 22 million people have their official domicile in Romania

Romania's population by domicile was on January 1, approximately 22.090.000 people, down 0.5% compared to January 1 last year, according to data published on Tuesday, April 27, by the National Institute of Statistics.
The urban and female population are the majority with shares of 56.3% and 51.2%, respectively. The phenomenon of demographic aging has intensified, the population aged 65 and over exceeding by over 600.000 people the young population.
The average age is almost 42, two months older than on January 1 last year.
