Outstanding international presence at 2018 ENCATC Congress in Bucharest
This major international event focused on cultural heritage and thus contributed to the success of the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage.

Changes in Europe and the world in the past 30 years, global trends, cultural transformations and their impact across Europe and beyond have been the themes discussed during the 26th ENCATC Congress“Beyond EYCH2018. What is the cultural horizon? Opening up perspectives to face ongoing transformations” that took place in Bucharest on 26-29 September 2018 and enjoyed an outstanding international presence.
This major international event focused on cultural heritage and thus contributed to the success of the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage. Congress was an opportunity for delegates from more than 35 countries in Europe and beyond to access the latest advancements in cultural management and cultural policy, education, training, practice, and research.
ENCATC is the European Network on Cultural Management and Policy.
The aim of the ENCATC Congress is to provide an opportunity for academics, trainers and researchers from the cultural management and policy educational fields with cross-disciplinary interests to mingle with professionals, policy makers and artists and thus to bridge the knowledge gap, promote research esteem and the evolution of pedagogy.
Winner of the 2018 ENCATC Research Award on Cultural Policy and Cultural Management is Dr.Alba Victoria Zamarbide Urdaniz, from Waseda University in Japan, for her PhD thesis entitled “Re-defining the role of ‘buffers’ in the management of the historical territory. The discrepancies between theoretical concepts and practical interpretations of the ‘buffer’ zones in Eastern and Western Cultural World Heritage sites”.
