National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued an alert yellow and orange code of heat wave for the whole country, valid from Thursday to Saturday.
According to the alert, during the heat wave that will intensify and gradually cover the entire country.
Temperatures will be frequently between 35 and 38 degrees in all areas of hill, plain and plateau and temperature- humidity index (ITU) will reach and exceed local 80 threshold of thermal discomfort.
Throughout the day on Thursday (August 23) will intensify the hot weather in the southern regions, and in the following days (24, 25 and 26 august) in the west, too.
In the Western Plain, the Romanian Plain, Western and South-Western of Transylvania, temperatures will range between 38 and 41 often degrees in the Danube Valley will record isolated 42-degrees , and the thermal discomfort will be particularly emphasized.
Thermal comfort index is an index that corroborates air temperature with relative humidity (physical size equal to the amount of water vapor that exists in a gaseous mixture of air and water) to determine the apparent temperature felt by the human body.
Normally, the body cool by sweating, a process during which the water has evaporated, and as a result retained heat falls.
When the relative humidity is high, the rate of evaporation of water is reduced.
This means a slower cooling of the body that retains more heat than they would in dry air.
Threshold is 80.
Where the value is equal to, or greater than, the population must protect themselves adequately.
