Only one Romanian citizen was picked up by the aircraft sent to Kabul

Only one Romanian citizen was picked up by the military aircraft sent from Romania to Kabul, and was transported to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the extremely difficult and dangerous security conditions in Kabul have made it impossible for other groups of Romanian citizens to access the airport for the time being.

The number of Romanians in Afghanistan who requested evacuation is 16, although at the time of departure of the aircraft it was known that 33 citizens of Romania are present. The Inter-Institutional Crisis Cell also took steps to identify and contact Afghans who collaborated with Romanian troops during their missions in Afghanistan, as well as some Romanian state scholarship students. To the extent that they can be contacted and reach Kabul International Airport, they will be evacuated by the Romanian military aircraft.
