The first online market in Timiș County was opened. This offers the possibility of home delivery of food ordered directly from the producers, given that due to coronavirus, the food markets are increasingly empty.
The online marketplace was initiated by a local development action group to help small farmers sell their goods.
RRA Reporter Alina Bujancă: This is a free online platform made available to producers by LAG Timișul de Centru in order to limit the spread of coronavirus by delivering food to customers' homes.
In just a few days after launch, 12 producers of vegetables, dairy products, fish, meat, honey and flowers reserved their stands in the online market, where they displayed their merchandise, prices and the area where the products are delivered.
Initiators say that this is how communities' involvement in supporting small local producers grows and short food chains are created, whereby consumers have the chance to get healthy food directly from farmers.
