Nearly 4.300 people received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine on Monday; it is an increase compared to the last days, in which just over 700 people started the immunization scheme.
The national vaccination campaign started exactly one year ago and, after a promising start, interest has steadily declined.
Professor Sorin Rugina, the first person from Constanta to be vaccinated and who is an infectious disease doctor, talks about a failure.
Sorin Rugina: Unfortunately, things did not evolve exactly as we wanted, and there are multiple causes. It is a failure of education to listen to all the inexperienced people who have no competence in this matter, including doctors who have no specialization. Also, the exaggerated mixture of politics burdened the campaign with the population in distrust, because if a politician intervenes, things will be distorted.
Host: Doctor Sorin Rugina also says that vaccination is still the most important weapon against the pandemic, and colleagues from Radio Romania Constanta remind that in December last year there was only one anti-COVID-19 serum, and now four are available.
