The chemical platform Ramnicu Valcea seems to be fast approaching to certain death, the death of whom all employees are afraid, whether we speak of those of Oltchim factory ,of the mining exploitation Ramnicu Valcea or those of Govora.
If Tuesday, of the 12 companies that bought the task book, none of them will show any interest in taking over the company from Ramnic, the agony of the factory will be prolonged fully stretching the nerves of the employees who protested for a week in front of the pavilion Oltchim, some of them adopting for two days the extreme measure, namely hunger strike.
The delay of granting the wages, the lack of transparency on the privatization so delayed, the job insecurity, and the lack of support from union leader were just some of the reasons for what the powder keg erupted after more than four years since the society functioned until 27th August 2012 at the reduced capacity of 40 percent, and since then until the present at only 3 percent, functional being only the emergency facilities.
The decline of an industrial colossus
November 2008. This is the moment when the factory showed signs that its economic activity begins to suffer because of the enormous debt accumulated from all sorts of suppliers.
It was the moment when Petrom decided to cease the raw material, ethylene and propylene, to Oltchim due to large debt accumulated by the society, namely 112 million lei.
Under these circumstances, the manager of that period, Cristian Roibu, tried to take Arpechim Pitesti refinery to secure raw materials, but also jobs, about 3400.
