Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu has ordered withdrawal of the observations transmitted to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) by former Governmental Agent for the ECHR, Viorel Mocanu, in the Dragnea versus Romania case and in cases similar to this one dropped.
According to the arguments of the Government Agent Directorate within the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, decision was taken because the observations sent to the ECHR by Viorel Mocanu were made without respecting the working procedures of the specialized directorate and because they were formulated against the interests of the Romanian state and without taking into account the views transmitted by the national authorities with competence in the field.
At the same time, ECHR was requested to allow submission of new observations in these cases, that will reflect the legal provisions and the national practice in this matter.
