No massive layoffs are expected at CFR Marfă (Romania's freight railway carrier) and CFR Călători (Romanian Raliways' passenger services), Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta pointed out at a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

However, Mr. Ponta acknowledged that there were CFR departments where employees were no more justified.

Solutions were to be found in order to put an end to 'histocric losses' and solve the financial burden of the CFR Infrastructure sector, the prime minister said as quoted by RADIO ROMANIA.

Prime Minister Ponta called on the country's Transport Ministry state secretary and Romania's budget minister to find ways in order to keep the CFR departments on track.
