The National Liberal Party and the Conservative Party have signed the protocol which marks the establishment of the Centre-Right Alliance.
The President of the National Liberal Party, Crin Antonescu stated that this agreement was based on the similar doctrines and programs of the two formations.
Crin Antonescu stated that it was an honest agreement, which puts both sides at advantage.
"In the situation in which in Romania we have a power which turns its back to the to the right-wing and centre-right ideology, doctrine and behaviour, not having anything in common with them, this clarification and strengthening on the centre-right area of the political spectrum was necessary.
I’ve signed this protocol whole-heartedly, despite the propagandistic pressure which was unleashed against us and especially against me, personally, once the news about this alliance was heard.’, declared Crin Antonescu.
Opposition from the side of some liberal leaders
Before the protocol was signed, the establishment of the alliance was put to vote by the two formations.
While the conservatoires have unanimously voted for the centre-right alliance, four members of the National Liberal Party have voted against it.
Our editor Alina Bordeiaşu transmits that the leader of the liberal deputies, former president of the National Liberal Party, Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu, the vice-president of the National Liberal Party, Ludovic Orban, vice-president Varujan Vosganian and deputy Adriana Săftoiu have voted against the establishment of the Alliance between the National Liberal Party and the Conservative Party.
Among them, Ludovic Orban was the one willing to motivate his decision in public.
He affirmed that the National Liberal Party had nothing to gain from the alliance and that the party might attract outside people even without this political agreement.
Alliance based on common "values and principles"
The President of the conservatives, Daniel Constantin, stated that the alliance with the liberals was not based on hidden negotiations, but on a set of values and principles.
‘What has happened today is nothing but a clear doctrinal settlement of the Conservative Party as a right-wing force and a very clear coagulation of the right-wing forces of Romania.
From my point of view, this alliance, just as the predictable alliance with the Social Democratic Party, only caters to the needs which the citizens have at the moment’ stated Daniel Constantin.
The Social Democratic Party has saluted the establishment of the Centre-Right Alliance, and considers it to be a right step towards the establishment of a right-wing pole on the political scene.
The President of the social-democrats, Victor Ponta, stated that he had been urged by the leadership of the Social Democratic Party to continue the discussions with the representatives of the National Liberal Party and of the Conservative Party, for the formation of a united Opposition and the creation of a common platform of government.
The Alliance between the National Liberal Party and the Conservative Party will be registered on Tuesday, at the Court of Justice in Bucharest.
At an initial point, the Alliance was supposed to be registered at the Court of Justice on Monday, after the establishment protocol had been signed, but the prolongation of the sessions at the National Liberal and at the Conservative Party has made it impossible to depose the documents on Monday during the working hours of the Court of Justice.
