Nicusor Dan promises major transformations in Bucharest's road infrastructure for the 2024-2028 mandate. The mayor is a guest on Saturday's "Internet Cafe"

The Mayor of the Capital, Nicusor Dan, recently gave an interview to our colleague Alex Buzica, in which he revealed his ambitious plans to improve Bucharest's road infrastructure during his 2024-2028 term. The proposed projects are mainly aimed at improving traffic flow and increasing the comfort of citizens using public transportation.

Intelligent traffic lights for smooth traffic flow

One of the main projects presented by the mayor is the installation of intelligent traffic lights, equipped with high-performance sensors, at more than 500 intersections in the city. These traffic lights will be able to adjust in real time the duration of traffic light colors according to the volume of traffic, and thus reduce waiting times and avoid traffic jams, especially during rush hours.

"These smart traffic lights will be a major step towards modernizing our road infrastructure and will help create a smoother and more efficient traffic flow", said Nicusor Dan.

Extension of tram lines

Another important project on the mayor's agenda is the reintroduction of tram lines in the Unirii area. The plan foresees that the tram that currently stops in the fountains area will be extended and connected to the Sfantul Gheorghe tram. This will eliminate the need for citizens to walk about a kilometer to connect the two trams.

"Connecting the tram lines will mean less effort for citizens and will encourage the use of public transportation, thus helping to reduce pollution and traffic congestion", Nicusor Dan explained. The mayor also talked about modernizing the tram fleet and replacing all the old trams.

Technology helps Bucharest to reduce expenses, concluded Nicusor Dan.

The full interview will be broadcasted on Saturday on the program "Internet Cafe", presented by Alex Buzica.

Don't miss this episode to find out more about the mayor's plans and how they will turn Bucharest into a modern, smart and more friendly city for its inhabitants.
