He urges Romanians living in the country or anywhere else in the world to have confidence in themselves.

’’2010 was a difficult year, but we have reasons for optimism when we think about Romania’s most outstanding resource: its people. We should have faith in the strength, creativity and determination of the citizens of Romania!" reads the president’s message.

According to the head of state, difficult times call for equally difficult decisions, but these usher in a better future, and Romania has a chance to build a bridge to prosperity, if we have the strength to take the right decisions, to the benefit of the generations to come.

In the end of his message, the president emphasises that his thoughts go particularly to the young, with hopes that they will benefit from a modern school system, able to revive the tradition of the Romanian education and to give the youth the knowldge they need and deserve.

In turn, prime minister Emil Boc said, in his New Year address, that Romanians proved that they can understand and overcome difficult moments, and thanked them for the "patience and wisdom they proved in 2010, which was not an easy year”.

He also expressed his confidence that as of 2011 Romania will begin to reap the fruit of the tough, but fair austerity measures taken in 2010.

The prime minister extended his wishes of good health, happiness and success to all Romanians.
