New Romanian Army Commander: Lt.Gen.Daniel Petrescu

Lieutenant General Daniel Petrescu is the new Commander of the Romanian Army, President Klaus Iohannis announced after the meeting on Wednesday of the Supreme Council of Country’s Defense (CSAT). Former Deputy Chief of Defense, Lieutenant General Daniel Petrescu has command experience in theaters of operations and has graduated military academies in Romania and abroad.
Lieutenant General Daniel Petrescu has served as Deputy Chief of Defense since August this year. He was Commander of the Southeastern Multinational Division Command and Commander of the 2nd Brigade in Craiova, a large unit that transformed into the Southeastern Multinational Brigade. His professional experience includes functions held at tactical, operational and strategic level within the Romanian Ground Forces and in NATO commands. As Commander of the 2nd Infantry Battalion Călugăreni , Daniel Petrescu participated in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan and “Antica Babilonia” mission in Iraq.
He holds a PhD in military science and information from the National Defense University in Bucharest. He is also a graduate of the UK Joint Services Command and Staff College (JSCSC, Advanced Command and Staff Course, 2007-2008). He completed with merit the Master of Arts Program in National Security Studies at Kings College London.
Lieutenant General Daniel Petrescu has been married for over 20 years and has two children.
