Cristina Neagu has just become the first in history to be named for four times the Best Handball Player in the World, after winning this title for 2018, as the International Handball Federation (IHF) announced on Monday.
Neagu was also awarded World Player of the Year in 2010, 2015 and 2016, for her fantastic evolution on the field.
"I'm very happy. I thank all those who are there for me and who have voted me. This matters a lot to me, especially as I am in recovery after an injury. I have now every reason to pull even harder and to come back stronger. I am very happy, I want to thank all my fans and handball lovers for giving me extra motivation", said Cristina Neagu immediately after the news, as the official website of CSM București writes.
Neagu is now going through a long recovery period after having been to surgery for the right leg ligament, following a serious injury in France, where in December she played for Romania at the European Championship. An important detail that comes to justify even more the value of Cristina Neagu: last winter, she ranked first among all-time scorers in the finals of the continental tournament, with 193 goals.
At the beginning of this year, Neagu has been awarded the title of the Best Handball Player in 2018 in Europe, on behalf of the European Handball Federation (EHF), a title she also won in 2017.
