The newly-elected representatives will go to the Senate on Thursday, December 19, for the preparatory activities to validate their mandates. At the same time, the same formalities take place at the Chamber of Deputies.
All documents will be registered by Friday after noon, when the two chambers of the new Parliament will convene for their first plenary session, when the committees for the validation of mandates will also be set up.
At the reception center for the senators elected on 1 December, the new parliamentarians complete the formalities before validating their mandates. Among other things, they present the election certificate issued by the District Electoral Office and their identity card.
They receive from the Senate a folder containing the Constitution of Romania, the Statute of Senators and Deputies, a notebook and a stylish pen.
USR's Catalin Bochilean, the newly elected senator for the diaspora, is 36 years old and has worked in the IT field.
"I feel a lot of responsibility, because there was a big turnout both in Romania and in Romanian communities abroad. There are two very important issues to correct, one, the discrimination Romanians who declare their residence abroad suffer and also the further digitization of consular services", says Catalin Bochileanu.
Niculina Stela from AUR is also a first-term senator.
"I want to do something for the country. I committed myself to take this mandate as a senator, I want to take care of people with disabilities and I even have a project ready, in agriculture I have some projects that I have thought about and now let's see in which committees I will be active", says Niculia Stela.
Until Friday, at 12 noon, the new MPs are expected to submit the preliminary documents to validate their mandates. After that, the Parliament convenes for a first sitting at 14.00.
Until the election of the permanent Bureau, the Senate is chaired by the senator with the most parliamentary mandates as senior president, assisted by the four youngest senators.
To validate the mandates, the Senate elects a committee of 15 senators at its first sitting.
