A new case of West Nile virus infection has been detected in Bucharest, being the second reported in the capital and the fifth since the beginning of the season in Romania.
From June until now, the other three cases have been registered in Dolj, Bacau and Olt, one infection each. In Dolj County, a 63-year-old man infected with West Nile virus was declared dead.
Epidemiologists advise the population to avoid exposure to mosquitoes, to wear long-sleeved clothing and long pants, to use mosquito repellent chemicals, to prevent them from entering the house through protective nets, to ensure the drying of puddles around the house, and to remove household waste.
