Romanian Defense Minister Mihai Fifor attended, on Thursday, 22 March, the ceremony of declaring the full capability of NATO's Multinational Division South-East (MNDSE) Romania, that took place at the Cincu Training Center, saying that the event undoubtedly shows NATO's commitment to defending the entire Eastern flank of the Alliance, from North to South.
"Today's ceremony – announcing the final capability of the Multinational Division South-East – is a testimony of what we have achieved so far as a nation, but also as allies, since the Wales Summit in 2014, which was strengthened by the Warsaw Summit in 2016. On my way to this event I kept thinking about how I could underline the most all the efforts that have paved the way for this day. The answer is three key factors: perseverance, from both our side and the NATO's, the work of all those involved at all levels, from strategic planning to implementation, and the constant coordination between us and NATO experts.
The entire staff has made impressive efforts since the Activation Ceremony on December 1, 2015, followed by the Ceremony declaring the Initial Capability in July 2016 to the present day, when we can proudly announce that we have attained the Final Capability level of the Multinational Division South-East", Defense Minister said.
Multinational Division South-East, a component of the NATO Force Structure, is under the operational command of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR).
Servicemen from 15 contributing countries are carrying out their activity within the MNDSE: Albania, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, Great Britain, the United States of America and Romania, that has assumed the role of framework-nation.
