NATO Day in Romania: "RunAway Run" sports event at 86 Borcea Air Base

A sports event was held today at the 86 Borcea Military Air Base in Calarasi County to mark 20 years since Romania became a full member of NATO.
More than 1.000 people from different parts of the country ran on the runway of military aircraft in the event called "RunAway Run".
Race organisers gave some background on the NATO mission before the start.
-: Ensuring the freedom and security of its members through political and military means. It is based in Brussels and has 32 member states following successive enlargements.
Participants enjoyed being able to run.
-: Very important. Movement is health.
-: Yesterday I was in Brasov, also running.
-: I'm a beginner.
-: Yes, it's a new path, I like it, it attracts me. Lots of movement, nice energy.
"RunAway Run" is the first race ever organised on a military air base for civilians. Captain Madalina Dobre, spokesperson for the 86th Borcea Air Base:
Madalina Dobre: The event aims to mark 20 years since Romania became a full NATO member state. At the same time, we also want to promote sports and hope that it will be a good omen and an example for other air bases.
After the race, participants were treated to a demonstration flight of F-16 aircraft and an exhibition of military aircraft.
