NATO appreciates Romanian troops in Afghanistan
The commander of the NATO training mission in Afghanistan, William Caldwell, appreciates the professional quality and contribution of the 66 Romanian soldiers and gendarmes who participate in the mission.

The commander of the NATO training mission in Afghanistan, Lieutenant General William Caldwell appreciates the contribution of 66 soldiers and Romanian gendarmes participating in the mission and their professional quality.
In an exclusive interview for Radio Romania, the general said he visited Bucharest a few days ago and he discussed with the Romanian authorities on the situation of Romanians in Afghanistan.
"We are fortunate that we have in our mission both Romanian soldiers and gendarmes. I have just returned from my second visit to Romania, where I discussed with senior officials of the Ministry of Defence about the performance of these people.”
“The gendarmes from Romania are phenomenal, are the most efficient and well trained people that we can imagine”, William Caldwell said.
According to the general the Romanian authorities have been receptive to the proposal to increase the numbers of Romania soldiers sent to Afghanistan.
William Caldwell made an assessment o the mission that he has been leading for two years and said that the objectives had been met so far and the number of Afghan security forces raised to 305 600 people.
