Romania is an extremely important actor for the deterrence and defense posture to the entire Eastern flank of the North-Atlantic Alliance, taking into account its proximity to Ukraine - the United States Ambassador to NATO, Kay Bailey Hutchison, said on Tuesday in a videoconference from NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, while answering a question from Radio Romania.
“Improving the mobility of the Alliance’s troops in Europe is on the Agenda of the Wednesday meeting of the NATO Defense Ministers and on NATO’s Agenda in general, and this means improvements in infrastructure, but also a simplification of bureaucracy when crossing European internal borders”, Ambassador Hutchison said.
“I am referring to all means of transport, not only roads, but also rail and air transport. Optimizing troops’ mobility is a part of NATO’s overall strategy, and Romania has a very important role in that, too”, the American Ambassador added, according to RRA Special Envoy Carmen Gavrilă.
