Today"s newspapers read about the"fuel war": companies are still keeping the price up, clients plan to stop buying at least for a few days, the state wants to find out how to calculate the price at the gas pump.
A wave of inspections of the National Agency for Fiscal Administration storms the oil companies - the Gândul announces.
State officials want to find out how the price of gasoline and diesel is calculated.
The oil moguls are, however, comfortable: the prices will stay the same because – as declares an official in such a corporation –"oil companies are not charities".
In the meanwhile, drivers in Craiova, who, before New Year's Eve revolted against rising fuel prices, were fined by the peace officers - the Adevărul and the Gândul read.
It was not that they paid with pennies, that was alright, but that young people – and we quote –"excessively honked their horns in the gas station".
Meaning that they disturbed public peace... Finally, the Gândul also adds, public transporters want to block the streets, after the Greek model.
Other topics in today's newspapers. The Adevărul: "Now is the time to attract foreign investors!"
The investors are going to neighbouring countries because of the increases in taxes and they are seeking alternatives. If we want them for ourselves, we have to, - the Adevărul lists, point by point - 1. Reduce bureaucracy, 2. Relax taxation, 3. Develop the infrastructure, 4. Simplify the legal system.
However, the key question that the Adevărul is asking is:"Will we be able to do all this?"
The analysis which opens today"s issue of the Evenimentul Zilei is titled: "In the land of the little girls/mothers, sex education is taboo." Parents often leave sex education to school, but the professors are embarrassed to teach it, because kids are laughing at this matter.
And so – is the bitter observation of the Evenimentul Zilei – to children"s sex education only dirty magazines and tabloids contribute, along with completely inadequate TV shows.
In the interview of the day, which appears today in the România Liberă, we meet Cristina Ghenoiu, the 29 year old young woman who wants to find the cure for cancer.
The woman researcher is a Ph.D. in New York, winner of numerous scholarships and co-author of world-renowned scientific publications.
"Most certainly" - Cristina Ghenoiu says –"we can see that cancer treatments are becoming more efficient and with minimal side effects. "
We conclude with the Jurnalul Naţional, which previews on five pages tomorrow"s events.
The Romanian Academy wants Mihai Eminescu"s birthday to raise social conscience, to annually remind Romanian people that they have to be a nation, not a population.
In the meantime, however, the Eminescu Publishing House, the only one still printing books at normal prices – went bankrupt. So what?! We have stuff to read – the Jurnalul Naţional claims. Account statements, bank notices, junk about bimbos...
