Having the headline "Teodor Meleşcanu, The Liberal 007", România Liberă points out the reactions after President Traian Băsescu proposed the nomination of the Liberal senator as the head of Foreign Intelligence Service(SIE).
The newspaper makes a brief history of the political career of Teodor Meleşcanu and reveals that his nomination as the head of the Foreign Intelligence service ( SIE) comes less than 24 hours after the head of his party, Antonescu, excluded the possibility that a member of the Liberal Party to have this function.
The decision – says the daily - surprised the opposition, who gave assurances that this nomination is not a National Liberal Party (PNL) or Social Democrat Party (PSD) approximation of the governing coalition.
România Liberă also writes "The pressure effects on anti-corruption: European Union sent two missions to Bucharest".
The author claims that the announcement of sending the two missions was made after two DUHR( UDMR) MPs have proposed legislative changes that cancel charges of corruption for politicians and that could block the National Agency of Integrity( ANI) by decriminalization of interest conflicts.
The newspaper writes down the opinion of the euro parliamentary member Monica Macovei relating to legislative proposals which she considers a threat to national interest of Romania with possible consequences on the accession of our country in Schengen and exhibits, at the same time, the reaction of DUHR ( UDMR), which motivates the approach by the fact that "it was necessary to define between official and public officers ".
Adevărul presents an exclusive interview with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Cristian Diaconescu. He took over for the second time the heads of this institution on February 24, after the dismissal of Teodor Baconschi.
For the new minister, the ratification of extradition Treat with Syria remains a priority - highlights this publication.
Cristian Diaconescu speaks about Romania’s position compared to the regime from Damascus and on the strategic reorientation to Germany.
Changing the area of interest Evenimentul Zilei which announces that "The state will directly buy cheap drugs", quoting the chairman of National Health Insurance House (CNAS) Lucian Duţă. He lists, in a newspaper interview, what are the new measures designed to tackle drug policy".
Finally, Jurnalul Naţional raises awareness "Robin Hood tax on the oilmen’s profit".
Overcharging the earnings made by oil companies is in discussion in Romania, in the context of the profit shown by Petrom and after gasoline prices spiked by 93 percent from 2009 to date, and diesel by 68 percent – says the publication: and adds that, despite insistent demands for the introduction of this tax, demanded by industry or transport companies, the government can not fix fuel prices.
