Crucial day for the euro area and Romania.
If a settlement well received by the market is not reached at Brussels today, “A nightmare month for the government” will fallow: how will Romania avoid the storm ahead?”, the Ziarul Financiar asks and identifies five major acts of defiance that need a fast answer: the economic growth for the next year, the budget and the deficit financing, the euro area’s crisis, the European funds and the renationalising of the banking system.
Regarding the consequences of the decisions expected from Brussels, the Adevărul writes that: “Eastern European banks remain orphans”. That means that the effect of renationalising the European banks may dry the banking systems of the Union countries that do not belong to the euro area.
The Jurnalul Naţional dedicates more pages to the speech or better yet to the “lesson” held by King Michael in the Parliament: “an historical message of how we should behave as Romanians” and a rare opportunity which both the opposition and the party in power applauded. You can read the entire article in the newspaper.
And the România Liberă tackles a dilemma: “Can the monarchy save Romania?”. What is staying in the way of restoring the constitutional monarchy in our country? Some concepts, found in the King’s speech, that are missing from the language of our statesmen, are written in the România Liberă: courage, loyalty, modesty, morality. Also, you can read in the daily that the international press considers the event a “small storm” in the Romanian political life.
Under the headline “Patriarch of Romanian theatre passed away”, the Adevărul writes about the death of Liviu Ciulei. Two pages of praises and regrets of people working in the theatre business.
The last interview given by Liviu Ciulei can be read for free in the newspaper Ring.
On the first page of the Evenimentul Zilei: “20 million euro vanished in the thin air at the lottery”. The National Agency for Fiscal Administration accused the Romanian lottery of tax evasion, and the Court of Auditors has reached the conclusion that the money collected is spent irresponsibly”. What have they discovered? Illegal contracts, specifications only for certain clients, unjustified payments, and acquisitions made at price above the market price, etc. You will be surprised to find how much was spent only on telephone cards.
The Jurnalul Naţional reminds us of the treasures of our country: virgin forests that represent 65 percent of this type of forests in Europe. But, the patrimony of the entire planet is in danger. The newspaper invites us to sign a petition to the Ministry of Environment, in which urgent measures are demanded. Therefore, access the site: padurivirgine.ro and sign the petition!
