Articles from the dailies Adevărul, România Liberă, Evenimentul Zilei, Cronica Română, Ziarul Financiar and Jurnalul Naţional.

From today’s newspapers we find out in which countries Romanians are freely welcomed on the labour market, but also where we stand on the overhaul of the justice system when facing the inspection performed by the European experts, beginning today.

From the Adevărul we find out who is still welcoming us to work in Europe.

Restrictions apply to Romanians in 15 of the Union states and the European Economic Area, and Switzerland.

The chances of getting rid of them until next year are slim.

Only Iceland has announced that they will accept both Romanians and our Bulgarian neighbours starting 1 January, whilst the Austrian, the Dutch and the British couldn’t care less either about the Commission in Brussels, nor the European Parliament who have requested them to open the labour market.

In the newspaper we can consult the list with the conditions imposed to Romanians throughout Europe.

The European experts are coming to Bucharest today in order to inspect the overhaul of the justice system.

In the România Liberă we can read a balance sheet for progress ”with which our country awaits the audit of the European Commission”; the lifting or maintaining of the supervision in this particular area and the adherence to the Schengen space depends on the result of this audit.

The newspaper claims that we have a new Penal and Civil code, but we lack the education; National Anti-corruption Directorate can brag about being active, but there are few convictions in the in big corruption cases.

From the Evenimentul Zilei we find out “30 economy-related good news”.

If we chose to see the glass half full: the figures don’t really stand out, but they look pretty good in the industry, agriculture, constructions and export segments.

We are on the second place in the Union when it comes to GDP investment, we have less unemployed people than on average in the European Union and the leu better stands his ground on the financial markets than the Hungarian forint and the Polish zloty.

The Cronica română with an editorial which reveals the “bitter truth” behind the crisis: the monetary union is in agony.

Investors are starting to reach the conclusion that public debt in the Euro area is not sustainable and that the situation is beyond repair.

This being the case, Germany will have to choose: either go under together with the heavily indebted countries or abandon ship.

It is only a matter of time, the Cronica mentions.

And in the Ziarul Financiar we can read that ”all Europe will embrace austerity”, as a desperate measure against a crisis that is now threatening the East as well.

The Boc-led administration must come back with a credible budget for 2012 and with zero government budget deficit in order to avoid an economic sideslip.

The pressure on insuring the state financing will be high.

Last week, the best interest rate the government was able to obtain was 7 percent in USD.
What not to eat: in Evenimentul we can find the top of the most dangerous potato chips.

They are not just salted potato chips, some of them contain up to seven food additives and up to 600 calories, as a recent study shows.

The Jurnalul Naţional brings to our attention the case of the “princess of the violin”: by the age of 15 she has won 50 awards, but she has nothing to eat.

She is most spoiled when going on stage, receiving flowers and applause.

At home, however, she shares a single bowl of soup, given to her by a foundation, with her mother and grandmother; in order to buy a 30-lei book she has to save up for three months.
If you want to help her finish her studies, you can contact her family on the phone number available in the newspaper.
