Under the headline "The last 16 days of Mircea Geoana in the Social Democratic Party", the Evenimentul Zilei reports about the possibility that at the end of this month the Executive Committee of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) would vote the exclusion of Mircea Geoană from PSD.
The daily qualifies this action as being "a novelty in Romanian politics due to the fact that Geoană would be the first head of party excluded from the group that he has managed during the last 5 years".
The article reveals the unfolding of the meeting of the Integrity Commission on Sunday, during which it was proposed that Mircea Geoană should be excluded from the party, but also presents the pro and con arguments of this decision, taken in the absence of the president of the Senate.
The same subject is analysed also in the Adevărul, which exposes the reasons of the Committee for not hearing Geoană, as well as the details of the press conference held yesterday by the head of the Senate.
Moreover, the standpoints of the other parties towards this problem have also been noted, whereas the newspaper comments that the management of the Senate depends upon the votes expressed by the members of the Liberal Democratic Party (PDL).
The Jurnalul Naţional informs us that the decisions of the Integrity Commission of PSD are being litigated by some members and writes about the press releases concerning this subject that have been issued.
At the same time, Mircea Geoană’s statement, who considers the exclusion from the party an abuse and requests the trial of those who proposed that Victor Ponta, the president of PSD, that his removal from the directorship of the Senate should be deployed on grounds that the elected procedure – namely CASTLING – was an unconstitutional one.
Passing to another subject, the România Liberă tries to answer the question: "Who wins and who loses money in 2012".
The newspaper mentions that, in accordance with the draft budget published by the Ministries of Finance, Defence, Transports and Health, the budget projects will benefit from larger sums next year while the funds for Education, Culture and Agriculture will decrease.
At the same time, the România Liberă publishes the interview with Monica Macovei, member of PDL, who sent Minister Emil Boc a list of 10 people who, in her opinion, should leave PDL.
The decisions taken by the Commission of Ethics of PDL, the image of the party following the affrays in the last period of time, but also the progress of the legal system after the terms of reference of the commission of Daniel Morar, head of DNA, represent some of the main subjects tackled during the interview with Monica Macovei.
