"EU entry door – strengthened", the Adevărul headlines, stating that the European teams of border guards might control the external borders of the Union, including that of Romania.
The article notes that, today, the euro-deputies will decide whether to allow European patrols of the community forum at the external borders and whether they increased responsibilities within the Frontex agency that "manages operational cooperation at the external borders of the Member States".
Also, on Friday, the European Commission will announce the details of its proposal for strengthening the Schengen area, after the Director General for Internal Affairs in the European Commission warned that "solutions of individual Member States jeopardize the system".
Under the title "European Union is not anti-terrorist umbrella to Member States", the Jurnalul Naţional publishes an exclusive interview with the counterterrorism coordinator for the European Union.
He underlines that while the community forum is a policy of prevention of terrorism, drawn after the 2005 Madrid Convention, each state must implement its own national security policy.
The EU counterterrorism coordinator added that the area is less vulnerable than it was 10 years ago, but he did not deny the seriousness of potential threats.
"Băsescu at the White House. The shield becomes official", the Evenimentul Zilei says, unveiling a part of the meeting agenda which President Traian Băsescu has during his visit starting today in Washington, including a meeting with the American president, Barack Obama.
According to the newspaper, which quoted the Foreign policy analyst, Dan Dungaciu, the visit of the Romanian President in the United States is important alone, apart from the agenda.
The article reveals fragments of the diplomatic telegrams referring to Romania, published on the Wikileaks site.
At the end, the România liberă published an analysis attempting to answer the question "Why Romanian citizens cannot impose laws."
In 12 years since the law on regulating the right of citizens to propose laws, only two draft laws were initiated by ordinary citizens, according to a research conducted by the Alliance for a Clean Romania.
It was also proved that the situation was caused by the so-called bureaucratic subterfuges and the incognizance of local laws.
