The Anti-Corruption Directorate, in partnership with the Stop Contraband platform, launched today the national corruption prevention campaign "It's time to stop giving something". This message has been designed to counter a common mindset in Romania that success and resolution of situations is achieved by taking or giving bribes. The campaign promotes the 0800.806.806 number for anonymous and confidential reporting of corruption.
Manuela Popescu, deputy director of the Anti-Corruption Directorate: This would be a first objective of our campaign, to raise awareness of the negative effects of involvement in corruption. Also, through this campaign we aim to increase the visibility and the important role that the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption has among law enforcement authorities in this anti-corruption sphere, that we are a reliable partner. Another indicator that we propose to increase and evaluate would be an increase in the number of calls to the 0800.806.806 call center that the Directorate-General for Anti-Corruption has, which is an opportunity to report corruption risks or, why not, acts of corruption that have been committed or are in the process of being committed.
This initiative, which will run until the end of 2025, is part of the series of events organized by the Directorate General for Anti-Corruption to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day - 9 December.
